The Salt for Hope Project is our opportunity to involve as many people as possible. People that might not necessarily already know each other, helping them to get together.

As part of our philosophy, we believe that re-thinking the value of money is also special. We have chosen three non-profit partners that are independent of any political, economic or religious authority, and that are (just like us) internationally local.

We give our clients the chance to say: Hey! What’s up? Need a hand with that? Let’s meet, let’s see…

Learning Disabilities Centre in Granada, Nicaragua.

Nicaragua has the lowest human development index scores in America, and estimates say that 15% of the population suffers from a disability.

This centre helps people with disabilities to achieve their full potential, contributing with different services to their social inclusion. The facility provides high-quality vocational training services, medical assistance (including psychological and orthopaedic support), feeding, professional assistance to the family, and a centre of early stimulation which is critical to improve global developmental learning skills for disabled children.

Additionally, productive projects are implemented to actively involve the older students in society and increase their future welfare.

8 Euros: Funciona can provide food for one disabled student in the centre for one month.

100 Euros: A disabled newborn child can receive the necessary treatment of early stimulation for 6 months, delivered by Funciona.

Program to improve rural livelihoods through income generating activities. Morogoro and Dodoma, Tanzania.

Morogoro and Dodoma are the two regions with the highest food and income poverty rates in Tanzania. Draught and lack of sophisticated agricultural production methods provoke that 60% of small agricultural producers have no source of food before the new crop. These periods of ‘hunger’ can last for up to 6 months.

The holistic program ‘Sustainable livelihoods’ developed by IO with community support and in partnership with 4 local associations seeks to guarantee food security by providing alternative economic activities to small agricultural producers. Moreover, IO provides vocational training in business management, subsidizes seed capital and facilitates access to microcredit services or rotating funds.

With your help: IO can provide a chicken shed for chicken rearing (60 Euros), deliver vocational training and set up the facilities for oil processing (total cost: 1,315 Euros) or create a community cereal bank (total cost: 5,265 Euros).

Comprehensive program (prevention and medical treatment) of HIV/AIDS in Tsholotsho, Zimbabwe.

In Zimbabwe, HIV/AIDS prevalence rates are among the highest in the world. More than 1600 people die every week and one out of five adults is infected with the virus. Estimations say that around 20% of pregnant women are VIH positive and the mother-to-child transmission rates reach up to 40%.

This MSF project includes voluntary counseling and testing, treatment for HIV and opportunistic infections - especially for women and teenagers (12-18 years old)-, prevention of mother-to-child transmission, nutritional supplements, medical care to victims of sexual violence in the district and general psychological support.

20 Euros: MSF can provide antiretroviral therapy for one pregnant woman with HIV to prevent transmission of the virus to her baby, and continue the treatment with the newborn child.

100 Euros: MSF can provide pediatric antiretroviral therapy to a child for a year.
